Blue Smile

Blue Smile

Blue Smile is a children’s mental health charity working across Cambridgeshire and the surrounding area. We support children aged 3-13 years in schools through providing expert one to one therapy. Half of all lifetime mental health problems emerge by the age of 14 so in childhood we have a window of opportunity to intervene early on, preventing deterioration.

The Pixel Fund grant will be used to expand and develop our counselling provision for young people during 2020.

We are creating two additional counselling spaces within our premises (in addition to our three existing rooms). With funding in place, we will expand our counselling provision for young people aged 18-25. Based only 500 metres from the University of Surrey we already have several students attending our counselling, those preferring to support from an organisation independent of the university.

Cerebral Palsy Plus

Cerebral Palsy Plus

The generous donation that we have received from the Pixel Fund will enable our charity to provide trips and outdoor activities for around 180 children and young people with Cerebral Palsy in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset, including accessible transport and travel assistance. All of these will be held in accessible venues that are disabled-friendly.

Strategic intervention to substantially increase access to mental health support for children and young people living with muscle-wasting conditions

In recent years, The Pixel Fund has generously supported the work of Muscular Dystrophy UK. Most recently they granted £10,000 in total towards a four year research project, which advanced a promising potential genetic therapy for the childhood muscle-wasting condition: spinal muscular atrophy. We are delighted and extremely grateful to receive the support of The Pixel Fund once again…
