Cerebral Palsy Plus

Cerebral Palsy Plus is delighted to receive a generous donation of £6000 from The Pixel Fund. This will help us to provide activities for children and young people, improving the wellbeing of those living with a complex disability.

The activities we offer are inclusive, and include things like an annual family fun day, seasonal parties and outings to places like the Zoo and the theatre. This year we will also be delivering more children’s cookery classes, which have been proving very popular amongst our members and their families.

Support from The Pixel Fund will also help us continue developing our programme for young adults, as we know that feelings of social exclusion and loneliness can be felt deeply among this age group. These activities are guided by the members themselves, and include things like meals out, trips to the cinema and bowling.

All our activities are designed to bring our members together and help them feel part of a supportive community. Many disabled children and young people experience poor mental health and are at risk of social isolation due to the barriers they face in everyday life. Our activities provide welcoming spaces, where participants can connect with those who share similar experiences, helping to improve their confidence and wellbeing.

Accessibility is at the heart of our activities, and we do our best to ensure everyone who wishes to can attend, no matter their circumstances. We offer our activities free of charge, and we also provide transportation to those who require it. In addition, we regularly hire the Mobiloo; a mobile toilet facility with a changing table and hoist.

Here is a recent quote from a grandparent which helps to show the impact of our services:

“Where do we as a family begin…Cerebral Palsy Plus has been a lighthouse in the middle of very stormy seas; a constant accessible area to go to for support and advice, but far more importantly for fun; we all need fun.”

A huge thank you to The Pixel Fund for supporting our project and improving the wellbeing and quality of life for children and young people with Cerebral Palsy in Bristol!
