12-week group therapy intervention for disadvantaged children

KidsAid intend to provide a group therapy intervention for twelve children and young people who are displaying early signs of poor mental health. Themes within the sessions will focus on connecting with oneself and others with self-acceptance, empathy, and compassion; exploring worries and fears; and creating a personal toolkit to use when life feels overwhelming.

We have identified this need, because during the past three years, KidsAid has received several referrals for children and young people at crisis point with their mental health, which may have been avoided if intervention had been provided at an earlier stage in their development.

The children identified for this project come from low-income, disadvantaged families who cannot afford appropriate support. KidsAid intend to offer this project to ensure all children are given fair access to the help and early intervention that they need despite their socioeconomic background.
