Impact Arts' Art Therapy Programme in North Ayrshire provides a tiered model of psychotherapeutic support to children, young people and their families who are affected by familial/parental substance use. Targeted towards those where the use of alcohol and drug use by family members is a contributing factor to Adverse Childhood Experiences, we work closely with ADP and family support partners to identify and engage some of North Ayrshire’s most under-supported families.
Our Art Therapists work with individuals through both 121 and group interventions on a weekly basis for up to 24 weeks, providing them with a confidential, safe setting that encourages creative self-expression and identifies strengths and coping mechanisms.
Alongside one-to-one art therapy with children we offer dyadic art therapy, which involves joint sessions with children and their carer, strengthening their relationship through mutual understanding. The main focus is on strengthening the relationship with the child and the main caregiver.
