The Guild of Psychotherapists is providing weekly in-depth 1:1 psychoanalytic psychotherapy for young people (aged 18-25) living in Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark struggling with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, OCD, eating disorders, and self-harm.

After an initial in-depth assessment with one of our psychotherapists each young person is matched with a therapist. They have a dedicated 1:1 therapy session at the same time and place each week, for up to two years, to help them work through their mental health issues towards recovery.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy creates radical and transformational change, working not only to reduce symptoms but to create a sense of resilience and increase a young person’s ability to cope with difficult feelings and situations and to take new risks in life. It enables young people to cope in situations which they would previously have found difficult and where they may have felt anxious or inhibited.

Through taking part in our project young people will have improved wellbeing and far fewer troubling symptoms. They will no longer avoid things they find difficult and will hopefully feel able to take up new interests or opportunities or find work or training where they felt unable to do so before.
