The Listening Place is incredibly grateful to the trustees of The Pixel Fund for choosing to support our work with young people. There has been a worrying increase in the number of young people taking their own life or feeling suicidal and the economic and social fallout from Coronavirus will provide further specific challenges for young people.
Funding from The Pixel Fund will enable us to provide free, ongoing, confidential, face-to-face support to suicidal young people. Support will be delivered fortnightly by highly trained volunteers with supervision from high-ranking mental health professionals. Previous evaluations have shown that this should help to reduce young people's suicidal feelings after approximately four months of support.
This service can be delivered at a low-cost of £250 per visitor which means The Pixel Fund's generous donation will cover the support of 12 suicidal young people.
