Future Living - Helping children recover from domestic abuse

Future Living Hertford is delighted to receive support from The Pixel Fund towards our specialist counselling service for children and young people affected by domestic abuse.

Children experience domestic abuse in many different ways. Even when they are not directly harmed, living with fear, coercive control, conflict or instability can have a lasting impact on their emotional wellbeing. Children referred to Future Living may be experiencing anxiety, low confidence, difficulty managing their emotions, disrupted sleep, problems at school or challenges building trusting relationships.

Our specialist children’s counselling provides a safe and confidential space where each child can explore their experiences at their own pace. Through talking, play and creative therapeutic approaches, children are supported to understand their feelings, develop healthy coping strategies and begin recovering from the trauma they have experienced.

In 2025, Future Living provided more than 1,100 hours of specialist counselling and supported 74 children. Demand continues to grow, with referrals received from families, schools and other local professionals across Hertfordshire.

Funding from The Pixel Fund will help us provide more children with timely therapeutic support, enabling them to feel safer, build confidence and look towards the future with greater hope.

We are extremely grateful to The Pixel Fund for recognising the needs of children affected by domestic abuse and for helping Future Living support them to recover, rebuild and rise.
