Young Roots

We are incredibly grateful to receive our grant of £10,000 from The Pixel Fund.

Young Roots supports young people who are refugees or seeking asylum to improve their wellbeing and fulfil their potential. We support young people – aged 14-25 in London – to positively address the complex challenges they face in their daily lives, enabling them to cope, adapt and thrive.

Our aims include improving young people’s wellbeing and confidence and reducing isolation and loneliness – aligning with The Pixel Fund’s mission to support the mental health and wellbeing of children and young adults.

We do this through holistic, wraparound support comprising Youth Work – weekly youth clubs – and One-to-One Casework – supporting young people to address practical challenges. We bring these services together at our Advice & Support Hubs – young people can come along to play football, have a guitar lesson or learn English, and while there seek support from a caseworker, or external specialists.

"I always feel supported and valued everytime I come to Young Roots."

"I have improved in my English communication and my understanding of the system. I now feel more confident to stand on my own two feet, and I also feel that I can support others by sharing my lived experience."

"I feel safe at Young Roots."

Young Roots has reached 1,036 young people through these services over the past 12 months. This is only possible with the support of our generous supporters, including The Pixel Fund, thank you.
