We are delighted to be opening a new Satellite Clinic in Islington delivering free, long-term psychotherapy to people on benefits and low-incomes suffering from mental ill-health. Our Satellite Clinic will directly replicate the cost-effective, clinically-proven delivery model we run at our Main Clinic in Camden, combining an experienced core clinical team with a group of trainee psychotherapists. Supporting up to 75 service-users per annum when at capacity, the new clinic will allow us to increase the number of people we are able to help each year as a charity by 40%. We expect the demographics at our Satellite Clinic to closely reflect those at our Main Clinic, i.e. 30% young people (18-25), 40% Global Majority, 28% LGBTQ+ and 75% female.
The Pixel Fund’s generous grant of £10,000 will directly fund clinical assessments and weekly psychoanalytic psychotherapy for 5 of our disadvantaged young patients at the Satellite Clinic over the coming year. The grant will make a fundamental difference to the disadvantaged young patients we treat, who are unable to get this kind of high-quality, sustained clinical care elsewhere. Long-term psychotherapy of the kind we provide is now virtually non-existent on the NHS, and is prohibitively expensive for disadvantaged young people if sought privately (£85 per session on average in London, and rising).
Treatment for each funded young patient will comprise (up to) 6 clinical assessment sessions and (up to) 46 sessions of ongoing weekly psychotherapy through the year. The CORE (Clinical Outcomes Routine Evaluation) method, widely employed in the NHS and other clinical settings, will underpin the treatment we give each of our young patients, and as per our latest data capture (2025) we expect to see:
88% of outgoing patients with improved overall mental health
69% improvement in their sense of wellbeing
67% improvement in their ability to function
65% reduction in problems with physical health
23% reduction in their risk of harm
