Just Drop In Rural Schools Project

Just Drop-In is here to help and support children and young people who are finding life hard. The charity has a heartfelt commitment to improve the mental health and wellbeing of local children, helping them to find themselves and their feet.

Our Project seeks to improve the mental health and wellbeing of younger children aged 8-12 years who are living with anxiety and whom may struggle to easily access services because they live in a rural community. We aim to do this by training a team of existing staff members and volunteers to deliver The Feelings Casefiles. This is a 12-week coping skills intervention programme specifically designed for young people aged between 7 and 13 years with social communication and interaction difficulties, including autism. The programme teaches coping skills to help young people manage anxiety using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) principles.

We have been working closely with Public Health colleagues locally to understand the unmet need of children living in rural communities and how we can best respond.

There is a limited national and local evidence base for targeted work and delivering the courses in rural communities and Pixel Fund support investment will provide a fantastic opportunity to evaluate the impact of our work and to influence support to rural communities in future.
