121 Youth Counselling is a service for distressed and vulnerable young people aged 11 to 17. They are given the freedom to share worries and concerns while obtaining non-judgmental and impartial support enabling them to address issues early in their life to build a bright future. Every year we receive over 140 referrals for young people needing support with their mental health.
Last year we were able to support 82 of these Young People delivering over 1000 counselling sessions. 69% of the young people we supported showed an improvement in their mental health by the time their counselling finished.
Young people are offered up to 10 counselling sessions initially with the potential to have a further 10 more if this is needed to ensure they get the support they need. Sessions happen on a weekly basis and are free of charge meaning that the service can be accessible to those who are unable to afford to pay for private counselling.
One of the young people supported commented ‘I received so much help and Counselling helped me so much and made me so much happier!’
Pixel Fund has awarded the service £5500 of funding to support this work with young people. The money will enable us to provide over 130 counselling sessions to young people.
