We are delighted to have been awarded a grant from the Pixel Fund to allow us to continue running art groups for bereaved children and young people.
1 in 29 children will be bereaved of a parent or sibling by the time they are 16 years old and the impact can be hard. The emotional and physical toll of bereavement can be devastating for children. They may feel a range of emotions, including anger, guilt, grief, isolation, and fear. They may also experience physical symptoms such as changes in appetite, sleep, ability to focus and changes in behaviour. Coming together in groups is one of the ways Daisy's Dream can help children and young people move forwards.
After initial therapeutic work has finished children often want to know what is next and we know that by providing something more frequently and based around an activity, in this instance art, will help them continue to manage their feelings around grief and loss, whilst providing opportunity to build relationships with people that are experiencing similar and understand.
We look forward to growing this support and working with Pixel Fund to ensure that bereaved children and young people get the best support we can offer, helping them to navigate these challenging times.
We anticpate that 25 children and young people will be able to attend these groups, with an increase in confidence, better coping strategies and mental wellebing and decreased feelings of isolattion as out intended outcomes from these groups.
