Cerebral Palsy Plus is delighted to receive a generous donation of £8000 from The Pixel Fund. This will help us to provide a range of activities for children and young people with Cerebral Palsy in Bristol and surrounding areas. The activities will help to improve the wellbeing of children who are living with a complex disability, helping them to have fun and experience new things in a safe and supported environment.
We are a user-led organisation, meaning that the activities we offer are guided by our members. They will include things like our Family Fun Day, trips to Gympanzees (an accessible play space for children with disabilities), cinema, bowling, crazy golf, picnics and even accessible sailing sessions.
Sadly, many young people with complex disabilities like Cerebral Palsy can often feel excluded and lonely, and many struggle with their mental health as well as their physical health. Our activities project will provide important social opportunities, giving children and young people the chance to meet others in a similar situation, who have a shared understanding and build connections and friendships with their peers.
Many families who are caring for a disabled child are struggling financially and must sacrifice the ‘fun’ activities which are undoubtedly vital for the overall wellbeing and quality of life for the whole family. For every activity we provide accessible transport and travel assistance to those who require it, ensuring no one is isolated because they cannot afford transportation. Here is a quote from a parent which helps to show the impact of this support:
“Cerebral Palsy Plus providing transport for our daughter to enjoy family days out, has been priceless! We personally could only attend one or two days out a year due to lack of funding, but because of Cerebral Palsy Plus, we are able to attend everything that’s on offer, which are much needed breaks that enrich our lives”
A huge thank you to The Pixel Fund for making this project possible and improving the quality of life for children and young people with Cerebral Palsy in Bristol!
