North Tyneside Disability Forum Ltd are so very pleased to receive funding from Pixel Fund to enable them to support anxious vulnerable disabled young people in rebuilding confidence and self esteem in the wake of the negative impact of COVID19 on their physical and emotional wellbeing.
At January 2022, as we reopen our services slowly and mindfully, we found we had 39% of under 25s, (23 young people) known to us as past participants to our Positive Lives NEET Positive Futures project work still too anxious and reluctant to step beyond their own doors.
This funding will enable us to provide 3 hours a week dedicated Project Support across 48 weeks to facilitate a youth led peer befriending programme where our young disabled volunteers, who are more robust emotionally, can support those less robust to begin to come back in to sessions.
By the end of 48 weeks, 23 reluctant and anxious young people will rebuild competence and appetite to return and reengage purposefully in NTDF’s Positive Future Lives ‘live the best life you can’ project.
Over 48 weeks 15 young volunteers will build skills around mentoring and peer support befriending that can be used into the future as transferable skills.
The aim? Positive Futures – Living the best life they can .
