The Listening Place

Everyone at The Listening Place is grateful for the trust placed in our work by the Pixel Fund. Indeed, thanks to their ongoing support we are proud to be providing our unique, life-saving and compassionate care to a growing number of suicidal young adults.

Young adults, who were the group with the worse mental health pre-pandemic, have been hit particularly hard by the pandemic. Particularly, findings show that when restrictions started to be lifted, they were the age group whose mental health remained the worst and showed little sign of improvement.

With 25% of our visitors being under the age of 26, it is evident that our work benefits a significant amount of young adults experiencing suicidal feelings and helps fill the gap in suicide support provision for an age group particularly affected by poor mental health.

This year alone, we have supported over 1,000 suicidal young adults by providing them with free, ongoing, face-to-face, non-judgemental, confidential support by appointment for as long as they need to significantly reduce their suicidality (4 months on average). This is as many lives that have potentially been saved from a tragic death by suicide.

We are extremely proud of the trust that the Pixel Fund places in our work, and grateful beyond measure for their decision to commit to supporting us for the next three years. This will allow us to push on with the next phase of our growth, as we continue to bring our service closer to all London communities to ensure all suicidal young adults are able to access our life-saving care during the darkest times of their lives.

As a volunteer-led charity, we can provide our care at the low cost of £250 per suicidal person per annum, which means the Pixel Fund will be covering the cost of support for 40 suicidal young adults every year, for the next three years.
