The Moving on Project is a specialist counselling service supporting 11-25 year olds from Gosport, Fareham and the surrounding areas of South-East Hampshire.
The counselling support that we provide is designed to help people find their own solutions. Every session is tailored to the needs of the client and the goals that they hope to achieve. We focus on early intervention, reducing waiting times and preventing escalation of poor mental health in later life. By building resilience, personal development and creative coping strategies, young people are helped to manage through difficult times.
Our service has continued during the Covid-19 (C-19) pandemic, when we were unable to provide face to face support we moved to on-line video and telephone counselling, adapting and modifying our delivery to suit the young people we work with. Since last September we have been able to resume face to face counselling in addition to online and telephone support.
We are an early intervention service but since the pandemic our referrals have become more complex and we have seen a rise in eating disorders, self harm, suicidal thoughts and overdoses.
The Pixel Fund grant will be used to support young people who are struggling in our community following C-19, providing professional counsellors, who specialise in working with adolescents and young adults. (All of who are members of BACP or other professional bodies).
We would like to warmly thank The Pixel Fund for supporting our work and most importantly supporting the many young people who would like counselling support but are facing barriers such as long waiting lists and financial constraints.
