Sport in Mind is the UK’s leading mental health sports charity delivering physical activity (sport, walking, dance and movement, gardening and exercise sessions) in order to aid recovery, promote mental wellbeing, improve physical health, combat social isolation and empower people to move their lives forward in a positive direction.
NHS research has shown that one in six school-aged children has a mental health problem and a recent survey from Mind showed that just under 9 in 10 young people said that loneliness has made their mental health worse during the pandemic. We know young people can wait a considerable amount of time to see a mental health professional. So, in 2021 we have launched our Children and Young people programme, providing sport and physical activity opportunities and our new Wellbeing Youth Journal to help young people with mental health issues referred to CAMHS.
We are very grateful to the Pixel Fund for their support in helping to fund this exciting new programme across Berkshire.
