Relate Northamptonshire received a much needed grant of £5,000 from The Pixel Fund to support young people across the county who are struggling with their mental health & wellbeing.

Relate Northamptonshire is a small counselling charity that has been providing counselling services for 60 years in the county. We have been extremely fortunate to receive this grant from The Pixel Fund and it will enable us to deliver a total of 90 face to face counselling sessions to any young person aged between 14 and 21, who are struggling to cope with the pressures of life due to their poor mental health.

Our counselling will support young people suffering with a range of common mental issues such as depression, stress, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, bereavement, low self-esteem and confidence. These mental health issues can arise from many situations in life that young people face such as parental separation, peer to peer bullying, social media bullying, feelings of isolation, academic pressures, loss of a loved one, eating disorders, intimate relationships that involve domestic abuse or controlling and coercive behaviours. Counselling is a proven intervention to support and effect positive change in people enduring poor mental health. Unfortunately, mental ill-health in young people in increasing at a rapid rate and it is estimated that 75% of young people suffering with poor mental health are not able to access the services, such as counselling, that can support them to improve their overall health and well-being.

Thank you The Pixel Fund
