Insight 46 is a unique research project building on a cohort study from 1946, in which all participants were born in the same week and have this year turned 71 years old. The study has followed the participants for their whole lives, and Alzheimer’s Research UK is delighted to have the opportunity to study a lifetime of information, including full medical history, education etc. and investigate the factors that may affect our risk of dementia.

Led by Prof Nick Fox and Dr Jonathan Schott, in this research we aim to uncover; why some people develop dementia and other do not, what lifestyle factors in a lifetime can affect our risk of dementia, and how we can design clinical trials to tackle this.
