Level Two Pixel Mentoring Project

Thank you to Pixel for supporting our Mentoring Project

The Level Two mentoring provision supports vulnerable young people with mental health issues to develop coping strategies which enable them to set and achieve goals and improve their life chances. In 2023, we have mentored 150 young people, but the need is increasing significantly as many more young people experience mental health challenges. This funding enables us to support 17 additional young people.

Mentoring involves 1-1 conversation between the mentee & one of our experienced, qualified Mentors. Mentees are encouraged to identify & share their concerns & are empowered to find their own solutions. The Mentor uses their skill to engage the Mentee on a journey to a better understanding of their own situations & how to develop coping strategies. Each weekly session, including preparation, delivery & session recording is for 1.5hrs and the average number of sessions is 12. As well as conversation, activities such as cooking, or art often help to put the young person at ease and enable them to talk more freely. This funding is critical to us as we do not charge the families or individuals for accessing this service, in order to make it inclusive of those who need it most.

Outcomes that we expect young people to achieve include: -

  • Better able to manage their mental health

  • Increased self-confidence & self-esteem

  • Greater resilience to build stronger relationships

  • Strategies to cope with challenges
