ADHD Embrace is a small but impactful community support charity in Southwest London for families and professionals who live and work with children and teens with the neuro developmental condition Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). We do this by providing information, knowledge and practical support, being an advocate for ADHD awareness and empowering those with ADHD. For two decades we have worked to ensure that children with ADHD are understood, supported and thrive.
It is estimated that 5% of the population have ADHD and early intervention and support can change the outcome of a child’s life. As part of the extensive range of services we offer, we host monthly drop-in meet-up groups or coffee mornings which are hosted by members of our team with direct experience of ADHD and are supported by volunteers. Providing a support community for parents is at the heart of what we do, and we have created a community which is a welcoming and empathetic group of parents and carers who understand family life with ADHD. These informal meet ups offer a safe space to talk to others in our community, ask questions and share ideas; thereby allowing participants to feel less isolated and alone and part of a supportive community.
We are seeing an increasing demand for our services with more and more struggling families coming to us in need of support. Our community has grown by over 40% in the last year. A grant from the Pixel Fund is helping us to continue to run our valued meet-up events and coffee mornings in the coming months where families can feel the emotional and practical benefits of joining a supportive group
“It was really great to meet others in the same position, share experiences and learn insights and just have a general supportive conversation. I found it extremely helpful” (Parent)
