Kids on Track exists to improve social mobility by providing an enrichment programme for disadvantaged children that will help develop a positive mind-set and build confidence, so that these children can achieve their full potential.
The children that are referred to us struggle socially, lack self-esteem and resilience and over half have experienced traumatic life events such as domestic violence and/or a parent with an addiction.
Thanks to Pixel we will be able to provide holiday clubs for over 60 children. From learning to ride a bike or swim a width, developing cooking skills or musical talent, playing football, tennis, boxing or even Quidditch, every day will be fun-filled and challenging leading to happier, more confident children who want to engage with school and the wider world, and fulfil their aspirations.
Our clubs have a very high number of volunteers who give the children the support and encouragement needed to try new things and get outside their comfort zone. Once a child is referred to the programme they stay with us until they are 16. Being part of a club like Kids on Track leads to a sense of belonging and therefore improved wellbeing. Parents, teachers, family support workers and social workers have all commented on the difference our programme has made to the children. Probably the most rewarding feedback we have had is “you made my son smile again and that is something that doesn’t happen very often.”
