“Employ your Mind is a long-established and highly acclaimed personal development, self-management and employability programme for adults with severe and enduring mental health conditions. In recent years we have adapted the programme to suit young people (15-18) – reducing the length of the course to 18 weeks and increasing the pace as our feedback showed us young people, despite their mental health challenges, were quicker to get through course work. The course itself is run over 4 phases that develops real life skills; delivers an accredited qualification; improve confidence and wellbeing and through the use of cognitive remediation therapy, improves memory, concentration, planning and thinking skills to help overcome the challenges life throws at us.
In light of Covid19, we are now seeking to deliver Employ your Mind in the outdoors for easier social distancing and to benefit from nature – “Grow your Mind” – following the same framework as the indoor project but focusing on outdoor activities and based within Silverburn Park, Leven, Fife – which is leased by our trading subsidiary to develop further community and commercial activities to support the financial sustainability of the main charity. Activities will include a growing project with opportunities to grow, sow, prepare and eat produce, sensory garden improvements and maintenance and conservation management across the 27-acres of gardens and woodlands.”
