Young People get a Spring in their Step!

The Totnes Rural Area Youth Engagement (TRAYE) project has been successfully awarded funding from the Pixel Fund for a project that supports young people to be active and improve their mental health and wellbeing.

TRAYE currently works with young people from the isolated towns and parishes of Buckfastleigh, Staverton, Dartington, Totnes, Harbertonford and Marldon. We deliver quality youth support and have remained open throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Right now, we are experiencing an overwhelming demand from our community, and we are grateful for the grant from the Pixel Fund that allows us to meet the needs of the young people who come to us in search of mental health support.

The Pixel Fund is supporting BOUNCE! Brighter Futures to develop our service. BOUNCE! is a charity providing specialist mental health services to children and young people within schools and the community. We are a team of committed mental health professionals with a high level of training and a wealth of relevant experience. Our focus is on delivering accessible, high-quality psychotherapy and counselling to children, young people and their families who would otherwise fall through the cracks of statutory services and private provision.

Winchester Youth Counselling (WYC) provide free, open-ended mental health support for young people aged 11-25. Our services include 1:1 Counselling, Walk and Talk Therapy, Nature Therapy, Group work and support for parents and carers. WYC support young people experiencing a range of issues including anxiety and depression, bereavement, suicidal ideation, self harm and many others, that have a hugely negative impact on their wellbeing and their future.

Sussex Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus

The Sussex Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus SASBAH) provides lifelong well-being support for over 1,000 children and adults of all ages across Sussex who are affected by these conditions. Young people with these complex physical and learning disabilities are often excluded from mainstream society, including the arts, and suffer disproportionately with poor mental health.

Whirlow Hall Farm Trust

Funding from the Pixel Fund will support the vulnerable children and young people who come to Whirlow Hall Farm Trust. These children and young people are struggling with moderate to severe learning disabilities, physical or mental health or heart breaking personal circumstances such as trauma, bereavement, abuse or neglect.

Tuppenny Barn is an organic smallholding and charity passionate about delivering educational opportunities for children, young people and the wider community in our outdoor classroom. Working with horticulture we help foster physical health and mental wellbeing through our education and green therapy programmes.

Sport 4 Life UK believes in a level playing field where every young person has the opportunity to create a better future for themselves. We are proud to provide the opportunity for young people aged 11 - 29 to prepare for, and move into, sustained employment, education or training, by improving their employability and key life skills - through our sports-themed personal development services.

Kool Carers South East

The £4,000 funding that we have generously received from the Pixel Fund will allow us to be able to continue to offer counselling and therapeutic interventions to our young carers aged 8 – 18 years and their immediate families. Since the pandemic, this support has proven a crucial lifeline for so many of our families and we cannot thank the Pixel Fund enough for their support and for believing in our work.

Perth Autism Support provides a range of services to support autistic children, young people and their families across Perth and Kinross. Many of the autistic young people we work with experience high anxiety, and as a result they often find it difficult to engage with the larger group activities that we deliver.

We would like to thank Pixel for supporting Counselling Plus to continue to offer professional counselling to local young people. Since our inception in 1992, the need for effective mental health support has hugely increased and whilst this is a positive change due to recognition of its importance, it does mean that we need additional support to meet this increased need.
